Maintain Your Priorities

  “For you have been called to live in freedom--not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love.” Gal 5:13

    *  Are you serving yourself first- or others ?  Materialism typically leads to the sins of greed  and envy.
    *  Jesus taught there are three things you can do with your life-  
1) waste it  2)  spend it  3)  invest it

Read: Matthew 6: 19-24

I.   v. 19,20  Where do you store your treasures?  
a)  1 Timothy 6:6-9  Godliness and contentment  
b)  Proverbs 23:5  Riches will vanish  
c)  Luke 12:15  Guard against greed  
    *  Our eternal focus should be on:  
1) worship / commitment     2) developing a Christ like character  
           3) expressing our generosity / blessings  
d)  1 Peter 1:4  unlike what will parish by moths, rust, & thieves  

II.  v. 21-23  Where do you focus your attention?  
a)  Proverbs 4:25  Be focused  
b)  Hebrews 12:2  Focus on Jesus Christ  
c)  2 Corinthians 4:18  Focus on eternal things  
d)  1 John 2:15-17  Establish your priorities  

III.  v.24  Chose whom you will serve  
a)  “If you think it is wrong to serve the Lord, choose today whom you will serve. Choose the gods your fathers worshiped on the other side of the river, or choose the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NLV  

b)  Ecclesiastes 5:10-12  Sweet peace

Someone once said, “money is a wonderful thing, but a lousy master” !

If you are serious about laying up treasures in heaven, then it begins here on earth-  and is completed in heaven.
