What’s In A Name?  

  “A Son will be born to her. You will give Him the name Jesus because He will save His people from the punishment of their sins."     Matthew 1:21 (NLV)

  God says His name is “I Am”.  It’s a very basic , root name from which all other names ascribed to Him are derived.  Of Jesus, He gave Him the name; (I Am) Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace  (Isaiah 9:6)

Jesus also used the names: I am the bread of life, I am the door, I am the truth, the way and the life, I am the true vine, I am the Good Shepherd

I.   From The Beginning, “ I AM “ was established

            John 1:1-4;  John 8:58   there is no beginning or ending, no boundaries, there are no height nor depth limitations

Note:  Exodus 3:14   He didn’t say, “I was”-  If you need a comforter, He is a comforter;... provider, Saviour, anchor, understanding listener

II.  I AM That I AM 

            Isaiah 44:6;  Isaiah 45:5,6,22  this explains: that He is self existent, that He is eternal and unchangeable, the same yesterday, today and forever, He is faithful and true to all His promises

            John 8:28   I Am He who does the Father’s will

III.  I AM The Goodness Of God

            Psalms 107:8,9  He is not good because He does good things for you, He does good things because He is God

*  He has given to us that which we do not deserve  (salvation)

*  He has not given us that which we do deserve  (separation)

            Ephesians 2:8  by “I AM’s” grace we are saved !

IV.  I AM The Gift Of God

            Romans 6:23   the gift of God

"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. “ Jn 3:16 (Msg)
