Angels’ Food - Honey Wafers

“He rained down manna on them to eat, And given them of the bread of heaven. 25 Men ate angels’ food; He sent them food to the full.” Psalms 78:24,25 NKJV

It is now 2 1/2 months since the Red Sea exodus out Of Egypt. The gripping continues; no water, no food; “better we had stayed in Egypt”. Moses said to Israel, “your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord”. However, God once again, in His mercy, provides food from heaven for the children of Israel. Now they will surly appreciate God and His chosen leader, Moses. Read on.

Read Exodus 16: 1-36

Manna, what is it? v. 6,7,10

* God says, “I have heard your grumbling”

* Instead of punishing them, God provides for their need

* a daily reminder of God’s omnipotence and Sovereign grace

John 6:29-34 God’s grace to us is also free to us to take

1) It is nourishment v. 13-15,31

* ultimately, it didn’t really matter what is was, as long as it sustained

* for 40 years, day by day, God provided the morning meal

2) It is a test v. 16-21

* God provided this food as a test- only gather enough for today

* every day, do not try to stockpile it- except on Friday

* on the Sabbath, God told them to gather nothing, but to rest

* just relax and worship the Lord and remember their deliverance

* unfortunately, the Israelites failed the test miserably

* He also tests us to see how we will handle His blessings to us

* like the Israelites, do we try to preserve our “manna” ?

3) It is a testimony v. 22-27, 32-34

*imagine how frustrating this was for Moses- they still didn’t “get it”

* God had given them plenty- they knew better, but didn’t listen

* God will NOT bless greed !

* yet God continued to bless them daily- because of who He is

John 6:35 living bread which spiritually nourishes us today

2 Timothy 2:13 He will remain faithful- that’s what He does

* He is a patient, loving, forgiving God- He can’t help it
