Justification By Faith Alone
“The true children of God are those who let God's Spirit lead them.” Romans 8:14 NCV
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10.For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9,10 ESV
We are reconciled to God by no other way than by faith in Jesus Christ. The greatest blessing which Christ secures to those who believe, is Justification. That is, the pardon of our sins and the promise of eternal life based upon righteousness. Not which we have done, but solely through faith in the Redeemer Jesus’ blood.
Read: Romans 5:1,2
I. The Means Of justification (having been justified by faith)
* the doctrine of justification by faith alone is essential to the Gospel
* we can not contribute anything more to our salvation
Titus 3:5-7 it’s not by our own devices or means
* it is not faith plus human effort and sacrifice or/ someone else's
Romans 3:20-25, 28 unlike the traditions of the “Law”
II. The Result Of Justification (peace with God)
* this is the ‘good news’ of the Gospel
2 Corinthians 5:18-21 Christ alone paid for our sins
Psalms 32:1,2 the joy of sins forgiven (Romans 4:6)
III. The Person Of Justification (through our Lord Jesus Christ)
* it the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and His shed blood
* that sacrifice alone was sufficient to satisfy God’s wrath- thereby giving us peace with Him
* but that was satisfied to God through Jesus Christ on the cross
* Christ was our substitute, our propitiation to satisfy God’s wrath
* we were deserving of God’s wrath toward us for our sins
Colossians 1:20-22 peace by Jesus alone- nothing else
* thereby our faith in His finished work on the cross we can be justified to God through our faith in Jesus Christ
