Just Do It

“Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”  James 2:18  NLT

We live in a day that offers so much information.  Computers and the internet have changed how we get some of our information.  But, we also have access to all the answers to our cares; all our problems through God’s Word.  However, some hear the Word of God, but do not exercise it.  It is never applied.

Read:  James 1:21-25

I.  v21,22  The Demand Of God’s Word  On Our Lives

*  we can not serve the Lord or/ hear His voice if sin is present

*  we must have a teachable and moldable spirit with in

*  God’s Word is that tool which keeps us sharp & “tuned to Him”

* “but be doers” means:  show yourselves to be-  present tense

it is a kind of action-  reading a cookbook does not get the meal cooked

*  God’s Word calls is to a kind of life to be lived daily

John 3:21  we are not afraid of the light on our deeds

1 John 1:6  our deeds must reflect His truth in us

*  Therefore:  if we are not doers of the Word, we are hearers only

*  as in auditing a class for information, but not taking the test

II. v23,24  The Disregard Of God’s Word In Our Lives

*  a casual, haphazard approach to looking at something- just a glance only, leads to carelessness- perhaps leading to mistakes

*  a careless haphazard baker is not good

*  do you ask God to prepare your heart for Him everyday?

*  God’s Word is like a mirror-  we can see ourselves how we are

III. v25 The Discipline To God’s Word In Our Lives

*  Notice:  v23 speaks of casualness;  v25 speaks of discipline

Psalms 19:9-11  God’s laws are to be desired!

*  our purpose should be to be conformed to the  image of Christ

“If you know these things, blessed and happy are you if you practice them if you act accordingly and really do them.” John 13:17 Amp

James is also telling us that each time we hear the Word of God, there must be a response to it in our lives; by acting upon what we hear.
