God’s Love Is Special

“And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we are like Christ here in this world.”        1 John 4:17 (NLT)

God’s love is a special love.  Understanding God’s love will affect your faith, your opinion of yourself, your service to God, and affect your perspective of life.

Read: 1 John 4:7-21

I.   v 9,10  God’s love is a Steadfast Love :

Agape love, firm fixed, settled, and established

            a)  His steadfast love continues when we do not deserve it

God loves us even though we are sinners

            b)  His steadfast love will go to any length

Jesus died as a penalty for our sins

            c)   His love continues when we do not love ourselves

when we have made bad decisions and poor choices

            d)  God’s steadfast love continues in difficult times

even though we may question ‘where is God ‘ ?

“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,  18. yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.  19. The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.”        Habakkuk 3:17-19  (NLT)

II.  v17-19  God’s Love is a Satisfying love :

the ultimate complete and total fulfillment of our need

v17)  boldness in the day of judgment

v18)  giving assurance in times of fear

v19)  there is nothing we can do to make Him love us more !

Being satisfied with a particular product or your bowflex machine is not real  satisfaction as the commercials tell us.  Knowing that God loves you unconditionally  is true satisfaction as the Bible tells us !
