A Living Sacrifice
Giving God Lordship of Your Life

“So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life--your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life--and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” Romans 12:1 (Msg)

Read:  Romans 12:1,2       Offer control of our bodies to Christ

I.  God’s intentions for your body
            1)  Your body identifies you as a unique person
            2)  You can experience everyday life through your senses
            3)  Your body helps you to communicate with others-
because you have mobility, you can move from place to place

Genesis 3:7,8 Adam & Eve were all about “self desires”
Your body is to be used in God honoring ways-  being self disciplined is not in our nature!  The body is weak and susceptible to our own desires.
Romans 6:16-18; Romans 7:18,19
the Holy Spirit can control what I can not

II.  Become an instrument of righteousness
Romans 6:4-6  Because your old self is crucified with Christ, you are no longer a slave to your old sinful nature

III.  Become a living sacrifice
            1)  Christ wants a life fully given to Him
            2)  Commit your body to holy, righteous living
Colossians 3:1-3  “...set your affections on things above...”

IV.  How
            1)  God helps you want to do His will- and will help you do it!
Hebrews 13:20,21 “...make you perfect in every good work”
            2)  Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you & teach you  Ephesians 5:18
            3)  Close the door of flesh to satan  Romans
13:13 ,14;  Gal. 2:20
            4)  Renew your mind in the Word of God  Romans 12:2
            5)  Present your body to Christ  Romans 6:12,13  Your body is not evil in itself, only the flesh (sinful nature) is evil and selfish

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your mind, and with all your strength  Matthew
22:37 ,38

Christians are not perfect.  When tempted, we ask God’s forgiveness and strength to help us overcome temptations by continually seeking to offer ourselves mentally, emotionally, and physically for His service.
