A Mothers Faithful Heart

“But the Lord's love for those who respect him continues forever and ever, and his goodness continues to their grandchildren”  Psalms 103:17

At first, it seems that Jesus is ignoring the plea of this Canannite mother for her distressed daughter.  But, we see the Lord was just building her faith through testing.   How strong is your faith when God doesn’t answer right away?

Read:  Matthew 15:21-28

I.  She went to the right person

Psalms 103:1-5  David’s expression of faith in Jehovah God

*  she was driven by the greatness of her daughter’s need

*  she was drawn to Jesus by the great things she had heard

II.  She would not be overcome by discouragement

Hebrews 11:6  you must believe that He can and will

*  she was not discouraged by the lack of a reply to her initial plea

*  she would not be discouraged by the unresponsive disciples

*  she would not be discouraged by the hard saying of Jesus

III.  This mother persisted in a humble way

Matthew 7:7-11  Jesus shares His mercy

*  powerful words:  “Lord, help me”

*  we must lay aside all of our own self righteousness

*  she would not be discouraged by Jesus’ seeming unconcern

*  there are times when we might feel like arguing with the lord

*  however, continue to humbly ask for His mercy and compassion

*  how much better it is when we honor Him as LORD

*  asking is a continuous action

*  Do not be discouraged-  keep on asking;  He will have mercy
