A Change For Good

As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one”      Romans 3:10 TNIV

There are some essential truths of life, i.e. gravity, seasonal changes, electricity, aging.  Nicodemus, though deeply religious, wanted to learn more of the truth about being “born again”  There was just something missing from his life. To miss this Spiritual Truth is to miss everything!

Read: John 3:1-26

Nicodemus was a highly intelligent, cultured, moral individual.  He was a “good” person.  There was a spiritual hole in his heart, so this becomes a conversation between God and man-

I.  v2,3  Face To Face

*  the idea here is of change-  a new beginning

*  though a Pharisee, longing to seek something spiritually deeper

*  Jesus saw in Nicodemus a man who was hungry for real truth

II.  v4-8  Mind To Mind

1 Peter 1:23  born again; but not of human relations

            John 5:24  hearing and believing

*  Jesus is not looking for admiration or even deep respect

*  he cut right to the chase

*  he is looking for changed lives-  not just changed ways  (v3)

John 6:35  Jesus will provide our spiritual sustenance

III.  v9-13  Heart to Heart

*  now Nicodemus is speaking honestly and openly with Jesus

*  like Nicodemus, many people today are steeped in “religion”

*  raised with the "rules and regulations”- yet they live with guilt

v14-21  Jesus reveals the way to being born again

*  this is a spiritual rebirth which will never fade away or die

* notice  v.16 “For God SO loved...that He GAVE Hs only Son

It’s not enough to have someone offer you a gift-  it has to be accepted.  God’s gift is a gift of “new Life” a changed life !
